Improve phone number service

Governments have failed to take responsibility for distributing phone numbers. We want to raise awareness of this issue and encourage them to take action.
Security and safety are primary public services. One area where governments have failed is identity protection.
Due to this failure, SIM swapping has become a dangerous method in which scammers gather enough personal information to convince a mobile service provider to transfer a victim’s phone number to a new SIM card under their control.
With the number in hand, the scammer can intercept verification codes sent via SMS, which are often used for password resets on email, social media, and banking accounts. This gives the scammer full access to these accounts.
Scammers are increasingly using this technique to steal identities and commit financial fraud.
Phone numbers should be handed out by local municipalities instead of phone companies.
